About

I am a German computer scientist (proud Mecklenburgian). My major research interest are techniques for the shape reconstruction, description and analysis of discrete, irregular, anisotropic geometry (i.e. vector graphics, triangular surfaces, tetrahedral volumes), and their application to the analysis and visualisation of natural sciences and physics.  Pattern recognition, computer graphics and virtual reality are also common subjects of my academic work.

Formerly, I was a PhD candidate the TU Delft, working on Large-Scale, Interactive Simulation and Visualization of Flooding Scenarios. I finished my 2nd PhD candidacy at UniResearch – Centre for Integrated Petroleum Research (CIPR) / University of Bergen within 3 years (2014-2017), where I investigated the usage of visual techniques for geological fieldwork using mobile devices. Before that, I did my Master Thesis project at the TU Delft, working on conformal, multi-material meshing schemes. During this time, I also established good relations to the Dutch High-Performance Computing society, which led to a minor appointment as scientific programmer in 2014 at the University of Amsterdam. I originally studied Multimedia Engineering at the University of Applied Science Wismar from 2006 to 2011. From March to August 2011 I was studying Vision, Graphics and Interactive Systems at the Aalborg University. From September 2011 to March 2012 I was finishing my Master degree with a project at the TU Delft in the Medical Visualization group (see “Related Project”).

Privately, I am interested in Philosophy (mainly Ethics and Moral), and a will to understand and learn novelties in nature sciences, such as chemistry, physics (mainly optics and nuclear physics) and mathematics. Now, that may sound boring – BUT: I also have my daily fitness centre routine, which has a key role in my well-being.
